The Jets are 3-9, so any evaluation of this season starts there. You are what your record says you are, as Aaron Glenn’s mentor would say.
But 12 games into this season, there are some things they have gotten right, along with plenty of things they have gotten wrong. General manager Darren Mougey and Glenn have received a lot of praise lately for the moves they have made starting in training camp and continuing through the past few weeks to fill some roster holes.
The counterargument to that praise is that they had those roster holes during the season speaks to poor planning in the offseason. The Jets clearly misevaluated some areas of their roster, and that had led to the in-season shift at some spots.
Now feels like a good time to take a look back at the offseason and what they got right and what they got wrong. For this exercise, the offseason is defined as January through the beginning of training camp.
