Reverse play! Jets will now let super fan take $100K field goal challenge after Post report

It’s the ultimate comeback story.

The Jets will now allow a diehard fan to try a $100,000 kick at MetLife this weekend after The Post reported that she got  booted from the contest over a technicality.

The U-turn came as Long Island soccer coach Ashley Castanio-Gervas received an outpouring of support from the sports world over the snub.

“We realized there was an unfortunate misunderstanding regarding Ashley’s eligibility for the contest. In an effort to remedy the situation, we are allowing her to kick this Sunday for an opportunity to win the prize,” the Jets said in a statement to The Post on Friday.

“We value the passion and loyalty of our fans and are committed to creating memorable experiences.”

Castanio-Gervasi, a Long Beach girls varsity coach, made a qualifying 20-yarder at a tailgate event during the Jets vs. Panthers game in October.

But she was told Monday she could not compete in Sunday’s on field “Kick for Cash” contest at halftime of the upcoming Jets vs. Patriots game, The Post reported Thursday.

Castanio-Gervasi was barred from the finals on short notice over an insurance technicality against coaches and recent athletes from the high school to Olympic levels.

The team picked up the flag on the play after sports media figures like Damien Woody, Jake Asman, and fellow Gang Green diehards fiercely defended her online, making the debacle a trending topic on X.

Prior to getting the bad news Monday, Castanio-Gervasi was nailing 25-yard field goals at Long Beach High School as her soccer players cheered on.

The kicking distance for the finals remains a mystery until the contest.
