Aaron Rodgers blasts ‘ridiculous’ refs for Jets-Bills penalty fiasco: ‘Really bad’

Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers criticized the officials after Monday’s 23-20 loss to the Bills

There were 22 penalties in the game, 11 on each team and some of the calls looked questionable. The Jets were flagged 11 times for 110 yards.

“It seemed a little ridiculous,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers even criticized a penalty that went the Jets’ way when Bills edge rusher A.J. Epenesa was called for unnecessary roughness on a sack of Rodgers that gave the Jets a first down. Later, Jets defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw was called for roughing the passer.

“Some of them seemed really bad, including the roughing the passer on me,” Rodgers said before making a “South Park” reference. “That’s not roughing the passer. We might as well play Sarcastaball if we’re going to call those things. I thought the one on Kinlaw was not roughing the passer, either.”

Rodgers could face a fine from the league for his criticism of the officials.

There was a potential breakthrough on the Haason Reddick front on Monday.

The disgruntled Jets edge rusher hired new agents, Drew Rosenhaus and Ryan Matha, after being fired by his previous agents last week.

Rosenhaus planned on attending Monday night’s game between the Jets and Bills and speaking to Jets general manager Joe Douglas about finding a way to end the holdout.

Reddick had requested a trade in August, but that seems to be rescinded now.

“We are focused on a resolution with the Jets,” Rosenhaus said in a text message.

The Jets acquired Reddick in a trade with the Eagles in March but he stayed away from all of the team’s spring activities and training camp.

Monday’s game was the sixth he has missed. He has racked up around $10 million in fines. Reddick was due to make $14.25 million this season.

The Jets suffered two injuries in their secondary during the game.

CB D.J. Reed, who has been having a magnificent season, injured his groin in the third quarter and did not return to the game.

Safety Chuck Clark left the game in the first quarter with an ankle injury and was unable to come back.

The Jets had a wide receiver (Garrett Wilson) with more than 100 receiving yards and a running back (Breece Hall) with more than 100 rushing yards for the first time since Week 5 of the 2018 season against the Broncos when Robbie Chosen and Isaiah Crowell did it.
