Week 9 features plenty of ranked-on-ranked action, but will we see any upsets?

With five games pitting AP Top 25 teams against each other, one would think we’d be in for a thrilling day of action.

But it was all chalk most of Saturday. No. 12 Notre Dame took advantage of six turnovers by No. 24 Navy in a 51-14 blowout. No. 4 Ohio State and No. 13 Indiana quelled any upset fears by holding on at home in Big Ten battles. Then No. 1 Oregon and No. 5 Texas took care of business later.

If anything, Saturday seems like a showcase for personal achievements, with Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith becoming the first freshman in 19 years to catch a TD in each of his first seven games and Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel moving into the No. 2 spot in all-time touchdown passes.

Will we see some surprises in the evening action? Stay tuned.

Live121 updates

  • Colorado-Cincinnati heating up

The teams have traded touchdowns so far in this important battle of upper-end Big 12 teams.

  • Final: Penn State 28, Wisconsin 13

Gutsy road win in Madison for No. 3 Nittany Lions, who played the entire 2nd half with a backup QB after Drew Allar left injured. They’ll head into next week’s matchup vs. Ohio State at 7-0.

  • LSU answers with a TD

LSU finally slows down Texas A&M’s runaway momentum train as Garrett Nussmeier caps a 78-yard drive with a touchdown on a 1-yard keeper.

After the 2-point try fails, Texas A&M leads 28-23 with 9:57 to play.

  • Final: Michigan 24, Michigan State 17

In a duel between two rivals that are both struggling, the Paul Bunyan Trophy stays with Michigan. And of course there was a little pushing and shoving at the end of the game. No love lose between these teams.

  • Texas A&M extends the lead with a TD!

Marcel Reed scores his 3rd TD of the game on a 3-yard run and the Aggies continue their 2nd-half domination.

It’s a 28-17 lead over LSU with 14:07 to play.

  • Final: Miami 36, Florida State 14

It’s a nice win in a rivalry game for No. 6 Miami, which remains undefeated at 8-0. Florida State falls to 1-7 as this disastrous season continues.

  • Touchdown Penn State!

Kaytron Allen scampers 24 yards for another score after taking the direct snap, and that should put a bow on this one.

Penn State is up 28-13 with 3:10 to play in Madison.

  • Texas A&M interception!

Wow, all the momentum is on the Aggies’ side now. Garrett Nussmeier throws another interception to BJ Mayes on the sideline and A&M has a chance to add to the lead.

Crowd is going crazy in College Station.

  • A&M takes the lead!

The Aggies have switched to Marcel Reed as quarterback and even though he hasn’t attempted a pass yet, he’s created a spark.

He just ran for an 8-yard TD, his second of the game, to give Texas A&M the 21-17 lead over LSU.

  • LSU field goal goes haywire!

The Tigers were lining up for a long field goal but the snap bounced off the holder, who wasn’t ready for it, and the whole thing went nowhere.

Crowd noise may have affected that one.

    LSU’s lead stays at 17-14.

  • Touchdown Penn State!

Backup QB Beau Pribula finds Khalil Dinkins open in the end zone for a 1-yard TD pass.

And PSU’s lead is now 21-13 early in the 4th.

    Pretty impressive drive by Pribula.

  • Wisconsin kicks FG

Meanwhile, the Badgers have cut Penn State State’s lead to a single point with a 32-yard field goal.

We’re headed to the 4th quarter with a tight one in Madison.

  • Touchdown A&M!

Marcel Reed cashes in the INT right away with an 8-yard TD run.

LSU’s lead is cut to 17-14 and we’ve got a ballgame in College Station!

  • Texas A&M interception!

Garrett Nussmeier is back in for LSU, by the way, so nothing to worry about on the injury front.

But he just threw an interception on a cross-body throw toward the middle of the field.

BJ Mayes makes the play for A&M, which has first and goal at the 8.

  • Pick 6 Penn State!

Jaylen Reed snags Braedyn Locke’s pass and takes it 19 yards to the house for a Penn State touchdown!

Nittany Lions take the lead, 14-10.

  • Drew Allar out for Penn State

Penn State’s starting QB appears to be out with an injury he suffered late in the 1st half.

Beau Pribula is in at quarterback for the Nittany Lions.

  • Michigan getting tricky!

This gadget play sets up a 2-yard TD run by Alex Orji. Suddenly the Wolverines are in control, leading Michigan State 16-7 early in the 3rd quarter.

  • Halftime: LSU 17, Texas A&M 7

LSU looking strong on the road in this battle of teams unbeaten in SEC play. Tigers QB Garrett Nussmeier looked like he tweaked his ankle right before the half. Limped off into the locker room.

  • Halftime: Wisconsin 10, Penn State 7

Nittany Lions officially on upset watch. PSU QB Drew Allar appeared to be limping a bit as he walked into the locker room. Something to keep an eye on.

  • Wisconsin takes lead on Penn State!

Tawee Walker scores a touchdown from the 1 after Penn State was called for an illegal substitution penalty on 3rd and goal.

Badgers are leading No. 3 Nittany Lions late in the 1st half.
