Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs confronts reporter over social media post after loss to 49ers

Trevon Diggs was heated on Sunday night, and he didn’t hesitate to confront a local reporter in the back hallways of Levi’s Stadium.

Diggs, shortly after the Cowboys fell 30-24 to the San Francisco 49ers, came out of the locker room to confront WFAA’s Mike Leslie over a post that he published on social mediaduring the game. Diggs was still in his pads, so he must’ve seen the post immediately upon entering the locker room.

The issue, apparently, stemmed from 49ers tight end George Kittle’s 43-yard reception in the third quarter of the game. Diggs, while defending elsewhere on the play, didn’t seem to notice Kittle and inadvertently cleared a path for him to the one-yard line — which eventually set up a touchdown that put the 49ers in the lead.

“Out of that whole play, that’s what you got from that?” Diggs angrily asked Leslie in front of a crowd of other media members near their locker room door. “That’s what you got from that? Out of that whole play, that’s what you got from that?”

“We can talk about it more,” Leslie replied.

“We can talk about deez nuts,” Diggs yelled back before walking back the locker room.

Leslie addressed the interaction briefly on social media.

Trevon just came out of the locker room to approach me about this tweet. He said I don’t know football, and I can’t do what he does.

He and I are in agreement about that.

He didn’t offer an answer as to what he was doing on the play, however. https://t.co/WaJJCRkFo5

I do not have a comment about deez nuts.

Diggs did not speak with reporters further once the locker room was opened up.

Diggs had five total tackles on Sunday night, which marked his best output in more than a month. He has 23 total tackles and one interception this season, his fifth with the team.

The Cowboys dropped to 3-4 on the season with Sunday’s loss. Quarterback Dak Prescott threw two interceptions, too, which marked his third consecutive game with multiple interceptions. Dallas was coming off of its bye week, too, after a 47-9 blowout loss to the Detroit Lions two weeks ago. The Cowboys will take on the Atlanta Falcons next Sunday.

Regardless of whether Diggs missed his coverage or not on that play, the vibes inside the Cowboys locker room appear to be about as low as they’ve been in recent years. Diggs’ reaction on Sunday night is a perfect example of that.
