Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), the 2024 GOP vice presidential nominee, pushed back on comparisons being made between former President Donald Trump and the Nazis.
Trump held a campaign rally with Vance and many of his supporters at Madison Square Garden in New York City this past weekend. Although the famed venue has long been used for other political events, including the Democratic National Convention, critics cherry-picked how it held pro-Nazi gatherings in the 1930s.
On X, someone posted an image of a pro-Nazi event at Madison Square Garden and wrote that it was the last time an “America First” rally had been held there. Nebraska State Sen. Megan Hunt responded, “They know! They love it!! It’s 100% on purpose and they think it’s funny and they cooked you if you don’t like it.”

An account with the name Drew Sullivan retorted, “My father fought in WWII against the NAZIs and was wounded. This comparison of Republicans and Nazis is atrocious. You should be ashamed of yourself.” Hunt then shot back, “Yeah good point, we used to fight nazis not vote for them.”

That’s where Vance came in on Monday with a volley of posts making reference to World War II, particularly D-Day, when U.S. forces and their allies stormed the beaches of Normandy, France, on June 6, 1944, in a campaign against the Nazis.
“There are so many reasons this is ridiculous, but here’s one: Who do you actually think the gross majority of the men who stormed the beaches at Normandy would vote for? The answer is obvious: Donald J. Trump,” Vance said in response to Hunt.

“Many (though their numbers are dwindling) are still with us. I’d love to see a real poll of the guys who actually did fight the Nazis. I’d bet a lot of money over 75 percent of them are voting to Make America Great Again,” he added.
In another post, Vance shared a photo of soldiers wading their way to the beach. He also made a swipe at leftist policies, saying, “These guys weren’t fighting to open the borders of their own nation or give taxpayer funded sex changes to illegal aliens. Sorry!”

The posts received a flurry of comments, including one from Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO), who alluded to how Trump and Vance’s rivals in the 2024 presidential election, Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, have perpetuated the Nazi comparisons.
It’s such a smear but it’s all they have left. No policies whatsoever. Dem leaders especially Harris and Walz are intellectually bankrupt at this point and have nothing to run on but fear and hatred. Scolding and attempting to shame people is not a good closing argument
