Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson had a somber moment when Shannon Sharpe brought up relationships on their “NightCap” podcast following his recent split from fiancée Sharelle Rosado.
Shortly after the “Selling Tampa” alum confirmed the breakup, stating Saturday on X that Johnson “is a free man,” the former NFL receiver said Sunday he was “triggered” by Sharpe, who brought up relationships while recapping the Week 8 slate of NFL games.
“You’re talking relationships again. Here you go,” Johnson said. “… How you don’t have any compassion? You don’t know what I’m going through right now… Damn, I’m just saying that was triggering.”
After Sharpe admittedly “read the room” and took a step back, he said he could relate to the situation Johnson is in.
“Ocho, you got a great situation so fix it,”Sharpe said.
“Well shoot, I’m blocked, so you might need to make that call for me,” Johnson explained before they started laughing. “Unc, it’s not funny.”
Johnson added “it’s going to be a team effort” because Rosado has him “blocked” and he doesn’t know what to do next.
“You know what I can do, I can talk to you and chat with you. And remember how you say, if you live it publicly, you break up publicly — so it’s OK. I can deal with that though,” Johnson said.
“Do me a favor. Why don’t you be the moderator?”
Sharpe couldn’t contain his laughter.
“Listen, give it two days, let her calm down,” Sharpe said. “It’s really fresh. Both of y’all need to stay offline … and next time if this thing it to be repaired keep it offline. Y’all don’t have to be so public.”
The “NightCap” podcast also tweeted a clip of the moment Wednesday with the message: “Keep your head up Chadford.”
It’s unclear why the exes, who share 2-year-old daughter Serenity, decided to call it quits.
Rosado, 37, confirmed her split with Johnson, 46, after saying she was tagged in a bunch of posts on social media.
“Chad and I are no longer together please stop tagging us. He is a free man ladies,” she wrote.
Johnson responded with a GIF on his Instagram Story of “Arrested Development” character George Michael walking with his head down.
He also shared a photo of a stick figure with its arms out and a message that read, “I love you this much.”
They went public with their romance in November 2020 and got engaged in January 2023.
