The 37-year-old woman fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent Wednesday had been “stalking and impeding” federal law enforcement all day, according to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
“Any loss of life is a tragedy,” Noem said of the shooting death of Renee Nicole Good, before explaining what led up to the shooting.
The DHS secretary said ICE had been “carrying out lawful operations” in Minneapolis when one of their vehicles became stuck in the snow.
As law enforcement officers attempted to free the vehicle “a mob of agitators that were harassing them all day began blocking them in, shouting at them and impeding law enforcement operations,” Noem said
ICE officers then approached the vehicle of a woman — Good — who was allegedly “blocking the officers and with her vehicle and had been stalking and impeding their work all throughout the day.”
Good proceeded to disobey commands and “weaponize her vehicle,” Noem continued, in an alleged “attempt to kill or to cause bodily harm to agents.”
Noem described the victim’s actions as “an act of domestic terrorism.”
The DHS secretary said she has spoken to both President Trump and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz about the incident.
