Shohei Ohtani‘s training partner on Wednesday had a few more legs than his usual workout pals.
Decoy — Ohtani’s famous kooikerhondje pup — joined the two-way superstar for offseason exercises at Dodger Stadium, and based on some videos the four-time MVP shared, both got in quite the sweat session.
Ohtani posted images of Decoy’s day at the ballpark on his Instagram page, and the duo appeared to start their day with some outfield fetch.
Later, the two were spotted inside Los Angeles’ weight room before they wrapped up their afternoon inside the locker room.
The play date caught the attention of Major League Baseball, which re-posted one of Ohtani’s videos with a caption that read, “Decoy is gearing up for the 2026 season! ⚾️🐶.”
Ohtani’s had the dog for several years, and he’s become a fan favorite in Los Angeles.
In 2024, Decoy was featured on one of Ohtani’s first-ever bobbleheads, and the pup actually helped “throw out” the ceremonial first pitch when the mementos were given out at one of the Dodgers’ home games.
Ohtani and his pooch will have a few more weeks of play time before he really gets back to his day job, as the Dodgers star doesn’t have to report for LA spring training until mid-February.
