In January 2026, Argentine President Javier Milei has recorded a significant increase in his image, reaching 60% according to recent surveys, positioning him as the third world leader with the greatest support in this indicator.
This rise occurs in the context of his two years in office, during which economic reforms have been implemented that have contributed to stabilizing key variables such as inflation and poverty.

Annual inflation in Argentina stood at 31% at the end of 2025, the lowest level since 2018, with projections of an additional decline to 20% for 2026.
These measures include a focus on fiscal balance and the reduction of state costs, which have allowed more than one and a half million people to be lifted out of poverty and attract foreign investments.
Milei’s government presented in September 2025 the National Budget for 2026, highlighting the achievement of a historic fiscal balance, approved by the Senate with 46 votes in favor.
This budget prioritizes increases in areas such as education, health, and pensions, and marks a milestone as the first in decades without a deficit for a non-Peronist government.
In addition, the Fiscal Innocence Law was approved, which adjusts thresholds for tax investigations, raising them to 100 million pesos for simple evasion and 1,000 million for aggravated, and reduces the statute of limitations from five to three years.
These reforms seek to protect citizens’ savings and encourage voluntary tax regularization.
Experts such as Nouriel Roubini have described Milei’s economic approach as solid, especially in comparison with previous policies, by emphasizing capital accumulation and growth.
In 2025, the Argentine economy showed signs of recovery after an initial contraction, with emphasis on the privatization of industries and monetary reform.
2026, challenges are anticipated such as consolidating international reserves, maintaining fiscal order, and validating reforms before the markets.
Milei’s term, which began in December 2023, has included legislative victories such as the Bases Law in June 2024, inspired by principles of economic freedom.
Previous surveys showed fluctuations in approval: in December 2025, it rose to 42.6% after midterm elections, from a low of 39.9% in October. In October 2025, his approval was 48%, with 48% disapproval.
The rise to 60% in January 2026 reflects the perceived impact of these policies on the daily stability of Argentines.
