Hundreds of flights were canceled and delayed across major New York City and New Jersey airports as a fresh round of snow hit the region on Sunday.
A slew of departing and arriving flights at John. F. Kennedy International Airport, LaGuardia Airport, and Newark Airport faced delays and cancellations throughout the day, according to NYC Emergency Management.
JFK Airport experienced 193 flight delays and 124 cancellations, while LaGuardia reported 131 delays and 112 cancellations, according to the agency.
Delays at both major airports were resolved by late Sunday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The embattled Newark Airport also experienced 251 flight delays and 14 cancellations, officials said.
As of Sunday evening, delay times were averaging around 49 minutes, FAA data showed.
“If you are flying, check your flight status before heading to the airport and allow extra time,” NYC Emergency Management wrote on X.
About two and a half to four inches of snow were expected to blanket the Big Apple on Sunday as frigid temps are set to freeze the region on Monday, according to forecasters.
The cold will move in Monday night with temperatures plummeting into the teens. Tuesday could see an icy 25-degree day before temperatures hover in the 20s and 30s.
The bone-chilling temperatures will cause the fallen snow and slush to refreeze, causing more travel hazards.
