One of Kianna Underwood’s “All That” castmates tried to muster help for the down-and-out former Nickelodeon child star years before a hit-and-run driver killed her in Brooklyn — as sources revealed Monday that police found the car behind the horrific crash.
Angelique Bates posted an emotional Instagram video in November 2023 alerting her fellow “All That” alums that Underwood — who appeared on the children’s comedy show’s final season in the early aughts — was homeless.
“I was not aware that she has been in New York homeless,” Bates said. “I don’t understand why no one’s talking about it.”
Bates, an original cast member along with current “Saturday Night Live” star Kenan Thompson, pleaded with the show’s cast and Nickelodeon executives to make a plan to get Underwood help.
“She’s like literally one of the babies,” she said, referring to Underwood’s late arrival on the show.
Underwood appeared in several “All That” episodes, ending in 2005.
But the former child star, 33, remained homeless, becoming a frequent sight on the Brownsville streets where she’d eventually die after being struck by two as-yet-unidentified hit-and-run drivers on Jan. 16.
The first runaway motorist driving a Ford SUV plowed into Underwood as she crossed Pitkin Boulevard at Mother Gaston Boulevard in the crosswalk against the signal, sources said.
Sources said the SUV pulled into the opposing lane of traffic to drive around a stopped vehicle, only to ram into Underwood.
Underwood’s body flew across the intersection, where the SUV’s driver stopped before driving away, sources said. Another vehicle — a black and gray sedan — then ran over Underwood and dragged her several hundred feet, according to sources.
NYPD investigators tracked down and impounded the Ford SUV that first struck Underwood, but are still gathering evidence to identify its driver, sources said.
The fatal hit-and-run inspired an outpouring of grief for Underwood, including from Bates.
“Y’all have no idea how much this one hurts…Sick to my stomach….So many people failed baby girl,” she posted after Underwood’s death.
