California Gov. Gavin Newsom may be winning praise from lefties for his bombastic attacks against President Trump — but one top Democrat isn’t buying it.
David Axelrod, top political consultant and former advisor to President Barack Obama, branded Newsom — who is widely viewed as a 2028 White House contender — as “tedious” for his self-aggrandizing routine in Davos, Switzerland.
“Haven’t we seen enough self-puffery from our leaders?” Axelrod posted on X, responding to a gushing post by Democratic influencer Harry Sisson calling Newsom’s remarks at the World Economic Forum a “masterclass.”
“Boy, I’ll tell you what. I have a completely different cut on this,” Axelrod wrote. “Newsom is a whip-smart, charismatic pol. His critiques of Trump are right.
“But this ‘Why can’t people just be as courageous as ME?’ routine is tedious.”
