John Harbaugh was getting fairly wound up as he got deep into an analysis of how he has changed as a head coach. He was at one place (Baltimore) for an incredibly long time (18 years) and now he is in his early days with the Giants.

One team fired him and another was ravenous in its zeal to hire him. The Ravens made sure his time was up with them. The Giants believe he is the perfect man for the job and that whatever grew stale with Harbaugh during nearly two decades in one spot will provide a fresh outlook in his new surroundings.

The Giants are banking on Harbaugh’s ability to adapt and improve. So is Harbaugh.

“Isn’t evolution survival?” he said last week, appearing pleased with his observation. “Like, you got to evolve to survive? It just hit me. That’s pretty good, right?”
