A Border Patrol agent was involved in a shooting that left one person in critical condition near the US-Mexico border Tuesday.
The wounded suspect is in custody at the hospital following the shooting, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department told The Arizona Daily Star.

“Patient care was transferred to a local medical helicopter for rapid transport to a regional trauma center,” the Santa Rita Fire District told the outlet.
The shooting comes days after Border Patrol agents — who were deployed to help ICE round up illegal migrants — shot and killed armed ICU nurse Alex Pretti in Minneapolis.
