After several weeks of searching, the Jets have hired a new defensive coordinator.
The team hired former Dolphins pass game coordinator/secondary coach Brian Duker on Wednesday, a source confirmed.
Duker, 36, has no play-calling experience, a sign that head coach Aaron Glenn is likely to call the defense.

Sources have said that over the last week, Glenn warmed to the idea of calling the defense himself.
Glenn, who was the defensive coordinator with the Lions for four seasons before joining the Jets, hired Steve Wilks last year as his coordinator and let Wilks run the defense. He wound up firing Wilks in December.
Duker and Glenn know each other. Duker spent three seasons with the Lions under Glenn from 2021-23 in various roles, including defensive backs coach in 2023.
Duker also worked with the Ravens, Browns and 49ers. He spent the past two seasons in Miami.
