Archie Manning could envision his grandson turning the Cowboys into a great team again.

A TikTok user approached the Manning family patriarch at a bar and asked where he’d like to see his grandson, Texas quarterback Arch Manning, play in the NFL.

“I hope he’ll play three years in Texas,” Archie responded, as he thought about the answer of where he’d like his grandson to play in the pros.

“It’s funny, nobody’s ever asked me that. Right off the bat, if somebody asked me, I’d say Cowboys.”

Arch Manning is the son of Cooper and nephew of Peyton and Eli.

He is in his second season at Texas and has spent much of the time backing up Quinn Ewers, but played well in two starts against UL Monroe and Mississippi State this year when Ewers was hurt.

Manning has also appeared in five other games this season.

As a redshirt junior Ewers has another year of eligibility and has been coy about his future plans.

“That’s the fun part about playing at a program like this,” he said in November. “Being able to sit back and just understand the pride and tradition that comes with playing here. I try to fully embody and experience as many moments as I can.”

Top Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt said recently that he thinks Manning might actually be a “better option” for Texas than Ewers right now.

“I like Quinn Ewers a lot,” Klatt said on his eponymous podcast this week.

“I’m starting to come around to this idea that like Arch [Manning] might be a better option. But he’s more inexperienced. It’s very difficult. Don’t you get the sense that this could be a similar discussion internally that Alabama had back when they had Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa.

“There was a very real possibility that Tua was going to start against Clemson in the playoff that year, in the semifinal. Hurts starts. They win the game,” Klatt said. “They give him a start in the national championship, and he gets the quick hook at halftime. Tua comes in and they win the national championship.”
