Tasteless trolls showered the Ivy League grad suspected of executing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City — and even threatened the McDonald’s worker who helped catch the fugitive.
The Internet erupted Monday after anti-capitalist Luigi Mangione was chomping on corporate fast-food in an Altoona, Pennsylvania McDonald’s after an eagle eye worker recognized him from surveillance footage of the alleged assassin.
“To the stupid b–h that ratted out my baby Luigi Mangione…you will be dealt with,” wrote another, along with a violent :Family Guy” gif showing one character shooting someone in the head.
Users even rallied to boycott the fast-food chain in light of the arrest.
“Out of solidarity, I will be boycotting all McDonald’s in the area,” posted one user to the Reddit page of Altoona. “I would suggest you consider doing the same.”
Thompson was shot dead leaving a hotel Wednesday and his killer has been on the lam since.
But Mangione — a University of Pennsylvania grad with six-pack abs — had supporters back him despite his coldblooded crime as criticisms flew of the medical insurance industry.
“The manhunt has now ended with investigators declaring ‘too hot to convict,’” wrote on X user.
Other supporters have allegedly set up GoFundMe accounts to raise money for Mangione’s legal fees, although the site has removed any such pages.
Reddit also appears to be tamping down on support for the alleged assassin. The site banned an r/LuigiMangione community hours after it was created — but not before the page racked up hundreds of subscribers.
Netizens meanwhile have attacked the tipster who phoned police as a “snitch” and a “rat” with some users publicly threatening the unnamed worker.
McDonalds itself features prominently in the memes and jokes.
“Bro, the McRib is back, that’s what took him down. No one can resist the return of the McRib,” quipped one user on Mangione’s Reddit page before it was banned.
