Accused CEO killer Luigi Mangione appears to have been plotting his attack against Brian Thompson as far back as August, penning a desire to take out the CEO of a medical insurer in a notebook laden with angry tirades against the industry, which investigators say belongs to him.
In an entry in the notebook dated Aug. 15, Mangione allegedly wrote he “was glad” that he procrastinated in his preparations because it “allowed him to learn more” about UHC.
“The target is insurance,” he allegedly wrote, adding that UnitedHealthcare “checks every box.”
An Oct. 22 entry shared by federal investigators in a complaint unsealed Thursday alludes to an investor conference coming up in six weeks, at which he described his intention to “wack” [sic] the CEO of one of the insurance companies in attendance.
