A flight attendant was hospitalized in the UK after falling from the plane as it was preparing for departure.
The unidentified crew member stepped out of a TUI Airways plane at East Midlands Airport around 4:30 p.m. Monday — not realizing that the steps were already gone, the Nottingham Post revealed.
She stepped out before realizing, sending her plummeting to the tarmac, the local outlet said.
An air ambulance and multiple emergency vehicles rushed to her aid and she was taken to Queens Medical Center in Nottingham, according to the outlet.
It was not immediately clear what injuries she suffered or how serious they were.
“We wish her a speedy recovery and will assist all parties with the investigation,” said the airport’s operations director, Simon Hinchley.
A spokesperson confirmed that the accident had been referred to the UK government’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch
“An investigation has been launched and inspectors have visited the airport to gather evidence and make inquiries to understand more about the circumstances,” the spokesperson said.
