BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Bills are re-signing special teams player and safety Sam Franklin Jr. to a three-year deal, a source told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
The deal is worth up to $7.5 million and includes $5 million in the first two years, per the source.
Franklin joined the Bills last August, initially signing to the practice squad before moving to the active roster prior to the start of the season. He went on to play in all 17 regular-season games and continued to be active on game days as a core special teams player. Franklin was on the field for 75.8% of special teams snaps.
Originally undrafted out of Temple, Franklin, 30, spent the first five years of his career with the Carolina Panthers. He also was primarily a special teams player with the Panthers.
Franklin joins a couple other players Buffalo re-signed to new deals over the past week with the Bills also bringing back offensive lineman Alec Anderson and defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis to one-year deals.
