TAMPA — Jasson Domínguez was, in fact, supposed to play more than 11 games this winter with Leones del Escogido.

Right wrist discomfort, stemming from the Yankees outfielder slamming his hand on the dirt while sliding into a base, cut those plans short.

But aside from the on-field objectives the Yankees laid out for Domínguez to work on in the Dominican Winter League — getting right-handed at-bats against lefties, improving his defense in left field and continuing to be a factor on the basepaths — the 23-year-old came away from the experience with a greater perspective on the game itself that both the player and team hope can benefit him in the long run.

“Sometimes as a young player, and just being part of one organization, you probably have just one philosophy or one thought,” Domínguez said over the weekend. “So to be able to hear from all those guys with different experiences, those guys can give you more information that you can use later on. You can think different, you can see things a different way. I think that’s the most [important thing] that I got from there.”
