Cowboys could trade for Maxx Crosby as ‘several’ suitors emerge after Ravens deal falls apart

While the NFL world is still reacting to the news of the Ravens backing out of their deal with the Raiders for Maxx Crosby, one team could be back in the mix to try to get the defensive end.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday night that the Cowboys were still interested in Crosby, even though it’s been reported that the defender had failed his physical with Baltimore.

The Cowboys could have some competition as well, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter reporting that the Raiders have already gotten calls from “several” teams about Crosby’s availability.

The Raiders are willing to listen to other offers from teams, but they are prepared to have Crosby get healthy and keep him in Sin City, Schefter reported.

The Ravens had originally beaten out a number of interested teams for Crosby, which included the Cowboys and Jaguars among others, The Athletic reported.

Even with the interest there, it will be a very interesting situation now that Crosby is back on the trading block.

After word of the deal between the Raiders and Ravens broke, teams that had been eying Crosby started moving on their backup plans, Pelissero explained on air.

“Think about the fact that the Cowboys have already pivoted and agreed to a trade for Rashan Gary with the Green Bay Packers for a fourth-round pick,” he said. “If you start unwinding these other moves, which there is no indication that Dallas would want to do that, you’re creating all kinds of questions across the NFL.”

The drama unfolded Tuesday when the Raiders made a brief statement announcing that the “Ravens have backed out of our trade agreement for Maxx Crosby” and declined to comment further.

It then came out in multiple reports that he had not passed his physical.

The Ravens have not publicly commented on the decision.

Now Crosby and the Raiders are back to square one after the relationship between the player and organization soured this past season, following a decision to put him on injured reserve in December.
