Although he hasn’t always been on friendly terms with President Donald J. Trump, British Liberal journalist
Piers Morgan knows him very well, having interviewed him more than 40 times, and also having won the ‘Celebrity Apprentice’.
Morgan was critical of Trump’s handling of Covid, declared Trump ‘mentally unfit’ to remain in the White House after the J6 riots, and Trump has once stormed out of a very confrontational interview with him.
The Telegraph reported:
“Admitting they’ve had ‘good times and bad times’, Morgan adds: ‘Nothing ever lasts forever with him in terms of fallings-out. He’s a businessman, a pragmatist at heart’.”
But it’s this ideologically divergent newsman who has predicted a major kind of acknowledgement for Trump in terms of foreign relations, after the Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal, and the expected peace in the Ukraine.
“’My prediction, for what it’s worth, is that Trump ultimately, probably in two years’ time, wins a Nobel Peace Prize’, says Morgan, insisting that he will have sorted out the Middle East issue and ‘make the Ukraine-Russia war end somehow which doesn’t allow Putin an obvious victory, but allows Ukraine more security going forward’.”
That would send liberal ‘wokies’ ‘screaming into their hankies’.
Having met Trump in 2006, Morgan really got to know him when he won Celebrity Apprentice in 2008.
With a storied career in the printed press and in Television, Morgan took his franchise to YouTube.
“Although some have described Morgan as Britain’s answer to the former Fox anchor Tucker Carlson, who is also close to Trump, Morgan admits he is modelling himself on the conservative pundit Ben Shapiro, whose $100 million Daily Wire empire he hopes to emulate with live shows, books, documentaries, feature films and merchandise.
“I’m right now, after Joe Rogan, arguably the second-biggest YouTube channel in the news, opinion and interview space in the world. And I think we can get much, much bigger very quickly.”
Morgan is actually reported to be the fourth-most-watched ‘news influencer’ and third-fastest-growing YouTube news channel in the world.
“Although Morgan cites Right-wing rivals such as Shapiro, Carlson and Megyn Kelly as success stories, he insists his own USP is being neither Left nor Right. ‘I like to see myself more now as a ringmaster to genuine rigorous debate of all people. And my favorite is where you get two very smart people on the Left, two very smart people on the Right, and they duke it out for 90 minutes about whatever’s in the news, from the LA wildfires, to the presidential election, the Israel-Hamas war, Ukraine-Russia’.
‘I want to be that guy – pretty centrist, journalistic, and, hopefully, someone who holds everyone to the same account. You want it to be lively, you want it to be compelling. But I don’t want a circus, I don’t want anyone screaming too much. When that happens, I hate it’.”
