Mayor Zohran Mamdani confirmed that he will be joining the craic Tuesday and marching in the Manhattan St. Patrick’s Day parade — after being mum on the issue in recent weeks.
“It is a day that so many New Yorkers look forward to, and it is one that I share in that excitement, because I know that it represents not just a celebration of the incredible contributions of Irish Americans to this city, but also one that celebrates so many of the different ethos that are core to the Irish spirit, including that of solidarity,” he said at an unrelated Monday press conference in Queens.
The mayor said he will join the annual parade stretching down Fifth Avenue after he attends a Gracie Mansion breakfast event and Catholic mass alongside police Commissioner Jessica Tisch.

Mamdani, who told voters he would skip “many parades” while running for office, has been noticeably absent from any public Irish festivities across the five boroughs but has participated in a Lunar New Year parade as mayor.
Mamdani also refused to take a position on a unified Ireland, the political push for all 32 Irish counties to be governed as one independent nation.
“I gotta be honest I haven’t thought enough on that question,” he said when pressed by reporters.
