Things are getting chippy between the Eagles and Commanders.

As the Eagles scored a touchdown on their patented “tush push” to take a 20-12 lead with 1:44 left in the first half of Sunday’s NFC Championship game, Washington cornerback Marshon Lattimore and Philadelphia receiver A.J. Brown got into a shoving match that began during the play and continued after the score.

Lattimore lost his helmet during the scuffle, apparently having it ripped off by Brown, but it was Lattimore who was assessed an unnecessary roughness penalty.

It may have actually helped the Commanders, though, as the Eagles then opted to go for a two-point try from the 1-yard line and failed on their second straight “tush push” attempt.

Things then got worse for the Commanders, as Jeremy McNichols fumbled the ball away to the Eagles on the ensuing kickoff.

A late hit by Commanders cornerback Mike Sainristil on Eagles running back Saquon Barkley then gave Philly a first-and-goal from the 10-yard line with 52 seconds left in the half.

Jalen Hurts then hit Brown for a 4-yard touchdown as the Eagles took a 27-12 lead with 39 seconds left in the second quarter.

A 36-yard touchdown from rookie Jayden Daniels to Terry McLaurin had cut the Commanders’ deficit to 14-12 in the middle of the second quarter, but the Eagles’ two touchdowns within a span of 1:05 put Washington into an uncomfortable hole.

Zane Gonzalez managed to convert a 42-yard field goal right before halftime to cut the Eagles’ lead to 27-15.

Saquon Barkley had two first-half touchdowns, including a 60-yard score on the Eagles’ first play from scrimmage after the Commanders scored a field goal on their opening drive.
