Philadelphia 76ers owner Josh Harris recently addressed the team’s underwhelming performance this season and shared his thoughts on star center Joel Embiid.
The Sixers have faced significant challenges, currently holding a 17-27 record, which has been a source of disappointment for both the organization and its fans.
In a conversation with The Athletic, Harris expressed his dissatisfaction with the team’s standing, stating, “Obviously, it’s been a disappointing season. No one’s happy with where we are. We’re not happy.”
In Philly, seemingly no one is — unless you root for the Eagles, of course.
A key factor contributing to the team’s struggles has been the limited availability of the aforementioned Embiid due to various injuries, as is seemingly always the case with the former NBA MVP.
Embiid, 30, has been sidelined for a substantial portion of the season, limited to just 13 appearances across 44 games, with undoubtedly more absences on the horizon.
Despite these setbacks, Harris remains optimistic about Embiid’s return and potential impact on the team’s fortunes.
“I want him to get his body right and get on the court,” he said of Embiid. “If he gets back on the court, everything’s going to fall into place.”
Harris also highlighted Embiid’s resilience, referring to his journey from missing his first two NBA seasons due to injuries to becoming the league’s MVP two seasons ago.
“He’s a warrior. I’ve seen this. He’s fought through a lot of injuries,” Harris noted.
Looking ahead, Harris conveyed hope for a turnaround, emphasizing the importance of Embiid’s health and the collective effort of the team.
“He’s getting the absolute best care and best advice,” he said. “I’m hopeful that he’ll fight through this and make it happen, and that’s what we’re going to plan for right now.”
