Tom Brady addresses Nick Foles ‘hate’ after infamous Super Bowl moment

Tom Brady’s Super Bowl nemesis was in the house for the NFC Championship game.

Fox cameras showed Nick Foles during the Eagles’ 55-23 triumph over the Commanders and it gave Brady — in the booth for Fox — a chance to discuss his relationship with his fellow former quarterback.

Foles had the game of his life in leading Philadelphia past Brady’s Patriots in Super Bowl 52 in 2018.

It was noted afterwards that Brady did not appear to shake hands with Foles, which is a customary postgame sign of respect between quarterbacks.

Play-by-play man Kevin Burkhardt noted that Foles was a Super Bowl MVP when the cameras showed him.

“Do you know who he played in that game?… I love you,” Burkhardt said with a laugh.

“Nick, I don’t hate you. I am just jealous of you. You caught it, I didn’t,” Brady responded.

Brady was referencing the famous “Philly Special” play that saw Foles catch a short touchdown pass just before halftime of that game.

Earlier in the second quarter, Brady had dropped a third-down pass from wide receiver Danny Amendola.

The Eagles’ 41-33 victory was part of a magical run by Foles, who was mostly a backup in his career previous to that and had only gotten the opportunity when starter Carson Wentz tore his ACL earlier in the season.

Foles did go on to be a starter with the Jaguars and Bears — and after leading Chicago to a win over the Buccaneers in 2020, Brady again did not shake his hand.

“I didn’t even think about that,” Brady told NBC Sports Boston when asked about the Super Bowl snub years later. “I think Nick Foles is a hell of a player and a Super Bowl champ. I don’t know one reason or another why I wouldn’t do that. Sometimes I run off the field, sometimes I haven’t.

“Sometimes if I have a personal relationship like I have with Drew [Brees] and Justin [Herbert] and Aaron [Rodgers] over the years — I don’t know, I don’t think it’s anything in particular other than I have great admiration for Nick and I think he’s a hell of a player.”

Foles, who retired before this season, would later celebrate the Eagles win on Broad Street with his wife, Tori.

Foles and Brady may be reunited again at Super Bowl 2025 in New Orleans with the future Hall of Famer in the booth when Philadelphia takes on the Kansas City Chiefs on Feb. 9.
