The deadly plane crash at LaGuardia Airport forced the major travel hub to close most of Monday as travelers were already facing chaos from the Transportation Security Administration funding crisis.
The Queens airport will close until at least 2 p.m. Monday “for a thorough investigation” into the horrific crash that killed two pilots and left 41 others hospitalized, some in serious condition, airport officials said.
The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop for all planes at the airport immediately after the crash just before midnight Sunday. Main roads leading to it were also initially closed.
It comes as all of New York City’s major airports, including JFK and Newark, have faced hours-long lines to get through security and a flurry of delays and cancellations.
An Air Canada flight arriving at LaGuardia Airport crashed into a rescue truck on runway 4, leaving two pilots dead and 41 people hospitalized, sources told The Post.
The regional jet from Montreal struck the rescue truck, which was responding to a separate incident around 11:40 p.m., officials said.
“The Port Authority Police Department is working closely with our airline partners as well as federal authorities and will provide additional updates as more details become available,” the airport said in a statement.
