The maniac suspected of gunning down his ex-girlfriend in Harlem after a break-up late last year was arrested Wednesday, cops and sources said.
Eliud Garcia, 50, was picked up by NYPD Warrants and charged with murder in the Dec. 23, 2025 death of Basilisa Negron, 47, who was killed in a hail of bullets in her daughter’s Harlem apartment, authorities said.
Negron was trying to bounce back after ending her roughly 20-year relationship and moved in with her adult daughter just three days before she was gunned down, her younger brother Juan Romero previously told The Post.
She was killed in the bathroom of the apartment on West 141st Street near Malcolm X Boulevard while her daughter was at the store, Romero said.
Romero claimed the ex had even threatened Negron’s life during their bitter split – the tipping point of his alleged controlling and overbearing behavior during their relationship.
“My niece told me he was telling her, ‘Oh, I see your mother. I know where she’s at. I know where she’s walking to right now. I know what time she goes in the house,” Romero added.
He said his sister filed a report around the time of her exit from the turbulent relationship, but an NYPD spokesperson said there were no reported domestic violence incidents tied to the victim within a week of the murder.
However, the spokesperson confirmed the victim has a “documented domestic history with the NYPD,” in which officers “took reports, initiated investigations, conducted follow ups and provided referrals to other domestic violence services.”
Romero said Negron was the oldest of six siblings, and shared three children with Garcia, whom she first met when they were kids.
“She was a loving person. Always trying to help people,” he recalled. “If she had her last dollar she’d give it to you to help you out.”
Garcia, of the Bronx, was also charged with assault, criminal use of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon in connection to Garcia’s death, police said.
