It looks like former Yankees bust Joey Gallo finally found a home.
Gallo, 31, agreed to terms on a minor league deal with the White Sox on Thursday, with the team extending him a non-roster spring training invite.
The first-baseman/outfielder played for the Nationals last season, but they declined their end of an $8 million mutual option on Gallo’s contract, sending him into free agency.
Gallo hit just .161 with 10 home runs with the Nationals with a .613 OPS through 76 games in 2024, spending the majority of his time playing first base.
The 31-year-old showed promise early in his career with the Rangers, recording back-to-back 40 home run seasons in 2017-18, earning two All-Star nods and a pair of Gold Gloves during his seven-year tenure in Texas.
The former Rangers star has been unable to find his stride since being dealt to the Yankees in a blockbuster trade ahead of the 2021 deadline.
During his tenure in The Bronx, Gallo posted an abysmal .159/.291/.368 slash line, along with 25 home runs in 140 games.
He has failed to post an on-base percentage over .301 in each of the last three seasons.
Upon signing with the White Sox, Gallo is expected to compete with Andrew Vaughn at first base.
Vaughn, 26, is coming off a down year with Chicago, posting career-worsts in batting average and on-base percentage.
Returning to the outfield is another possibility for Gallo, with the White Sox — coming off a 121-loss season — without a full-time starter slated in right field.
