Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is hoping to turn taking a beer can to the head into a business opportunity.

Roseman and his representatives applied to the United States Patent and Trademark Office on Saturday to trademark the phrase, “I bleed for this city.”

Videos from the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory parade last Friday show a flying beer can striking Roseman in the forehead hard enough to draw blood while riding on a float down Broad Street. In the ultimate display of Philly toughness, Roseman quickly shrugged off his wound and got right back to the revelry.

When Roseman addressed Eagles fans at the end of the parade, he opened by addressing the cut on his forehead. Lombardi trophy in one hand, victory cigar in another, the general manager shouted into the microphone, “I bleed for this city!”

The trademark application was filed the following afternoon by the newly formed BLEEDING BIRD LLC and lists attorney Timothy J Hoy of Wasserman Media Group as its primary contact. The filing says that Roseman and his team plan to develop a clothing line around the “I bleed for this city” phrase.

Trademark attorney Josh Gerben discovered the filing and posted about it Tuesday morning on X.

Roseman has worked for the Eagles for 25 years and has served as the franchise’s general manager since 2010. Under his leadership, the team has reached the Super Bowl three times, winning two of them.
