The conversation about stick choices and shooting angles with assistant coach Daniel Alfredsson during one of Sweden’s 4 Nations practices in Montreal was, in Mika Zibanejad’s telling, “picked up from 12 years ago.”

“I worked with him quite a bit in Ottawa when he was still playing and then when he came back [as an adviser] he was on the ice with us a quite a lot,” No. 93 told The Post on Thursday. “I was working on the shot and with different stick, a different release and different techniques.

“He tried my stick one practice. He was one of the best goal-scorers of all time, scored from so many different angles, so many different ways. Meeting up with him again was fun.

“Some situations are more likely to happen on a regular basis, some situations may not happen,” Zibanejad said. “But you’re more aware to be ready in that scenario but if I get better at a certain type of shot I might try to seek that situation.”
