A Carnival Cruise passenger died when he jumped overboard as the ship was sailing through the Caribbean on Tuesday, according to officials.
The male guest, whose identity wasn’t released, had climbed over the railing of his stateroom balcony while traveling aboard the Carnival Liberty before plunging to his death into the waters below, WDSU reported.

The crew was able to recover the man, but he was soon pronounced dead, TMZ reported.
Cruise officials told the outlet the man had been traveling with family members at the time of the fatal leap, with the relatives being provided support from employees.
A motive behind the jump was not immediately revealed.
The Carnival Liberty, currently on a 7-day round trip from New Orleans to the Bahamas, had made a stop at the cruiseline’s exclusive island, Celebration Key, just before the fatal leap, according to online tracker CruiseMapper.
The Post has reached out to Carnival Cruise.
It is the second death to rock the cruise line in less than a week.

On Saturday, an 88-year-old woman lost control of her mobility scooter and plunged off the edge of a pier at Celebration Key.
The elderly American was traveling aboard the Carnival Celebration ship that was docked at the Caribbean getaway at the time of the tragedy.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force separately announced that they are investigating the woman’s death.
Police believe she struck her head against the hull of the ship before landing in the water.
