Alaska Airlines has launched a new daily nonstop flight between Hollywood Burbank Airport and Honolulu, adding more options for Southern Californians looking to escape to the island paradise.
The seasonal service, which will run through Aug. 18, began on Wednesday, with planes departing Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport at 12:19 p.m. and touching down in Burbank around 9 p.m.
The new route expands Alaska’s growing California-to-Hawaii footprint, giving travelers another direct option between the islands and the Los Angeles area, according to Hawaii News Now.
With the addition of Burbank, Alaska now flies nonstop to Honolulu from nine California airports: Burbank, Los Angeles International Airport, Long Beach, Oakland, Ontario, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco and San Jose.
The airline also flies nonstop from Kahului, Lihue, and Kona, opening up even more gateways across the Hawaiian islands.
Alaska said the expanded service is powered by its joint network with Hawaiian Airlines, enabling the carrier to significantly expand its reach.
“Together, we are able to offer guests traveling between California and Hawaii the most seats, flights and destinations, providing unmatched access, flexibility and choice,” said Neil Thwaites, vice president of global sales and California commercial performance.
The airline expects to operate nearly 23,000 flights linking California and Hawaii as part of its summer expansion.
Round-trip fares start at about $500.
