Brandon Nimmo (.784 OPS, higher than every qualified Met) became convinced to accept the trade to Texas only after a brief conversation with Mets baseball president David Stearns. Nimmo said it reminded him of talking to a car dealer, only the dealer was selling him on walking away.

Nimmo loved being a Met, but he got the feeling from that conversation he was no longer part of Mets plans.

“You want to go where you’re wanted,” Nimmo said.

It became obvious that was Texas, which he said “rolled out the red carpet” for him.
