The baseball world is upside down. 

It’s not only that the bargain-basement Brewers, baseball’s best team, never lose, but it’s also that a billion dollars spent on the three biggest-market teams looks potentially wasted today. 

The $400M Dodgers and $300M-plus Yankees and Mets appear pedestrian, and that’s on a good day. The Mets headed into Thursday 16-19 since July 1, and that’s actually better than the Yankees (16-21) and Dodgers (15-21). And after a deadline when the Dodgers made only two marginal pickups and the Yankees and Mets attempted to bolster beleaguered bullpens, they’re no better; the Dodgers were 5-7, the Yankees 4-8 and Mets 2-9.
