Sen. Cory Booker appeared on MSNOW Sunday and delivered exactly the kind of dramatic, race-obsessed rhetoric that now defines the modern Democrat Party’s response to redistricting.

Booker was reacting to recent Supreme Court redistricting rulings, including the Court’s May 11 decision allowing Alabama to use a congressional map previously blocked by a lower court.

The decision overturned a judicial order requiring Alabama to use a court-imposed map with two largely Black districts.

Instead of treating the ruling as a constitutional debate over race-based districting, Booker framed the entire issue as a return to one of the darkest chapters in American history.

During the interview, Booker said his “soul and heart ache” over the Court’s decision and claimed America is facing a moment similar to the civil rights battles of the 1950s and 1960s.

Booker spoke about Alabama as “sacred soil,” referencing Martin Luther King Jr., Fred Shuttlesworth, John Lewis, Freedom Riders, the Edmund Pettus Bridge, police dogs, fire hoses, and the long struggle against Jim Crow.

The problem is obvious: no one is stopping Black Americans from voting.

Black voters have the same legal right to cast ballots as white voters, Hispanic voters, Asian voters, Jewish voters, Christian voters, young voters, old voters, and every other American citizen. The issue at the center of this fight is not whether people can vote, but rather whether the government should draw congressional districts based on race.

Booker and the Democrat Party do not want Americans to see the issue that way because their political strategy depends on making every election fight a moral emergency.

If Democrats can convince voters that Republicans are trying to bring back Jim Crow, then Democrats do not have to defend race-based redistricting on the merits. They can just accuse their opponents of racism.

Booker even claimed that Republican-backed maps would “eviscerate Black leadership” and undermine democracy itself. He said the next six months are not about Democrats versus Republicans, but about “democratic forces” against people who want to undermine democracy.

That is the entire Democrat playbook.

They take a normal political and legal dispute, inject race into it, compare their opponents to segregationists, and then demand moral outrage from their base. It is not an argument, but pure emotional manipulation.

The most offensive part of Booker’s interview was the comparison between today’s redistricting fight and the actual civil rights movement.

Americans who faced lynching, legal segregation, terror, poll taxes, and state-backed discrimination were fighting for basic constitutional rights. Booker is fighting to preserve a political system where race remains central to how voting districts are drawn.

Those are not the same thing.

The Supreme Court’s recent rulings are part of a broader legal fight over whether racial gerrymandering can be justified under the Voting Rights Act. The Gateway Pundit previously reported that the Alabama ruling followed the Court’s Louisiana decision, which dealt with unconstitutional racial gerrymandering.

To normal Americans, the principle should be simple: voters should be treated as citizens, not racial categories.

But to Cory Booker and the left, everything must be filtered through race. Every map, every election, every court ruling, and every Republican action becomes another excuse to claim America is sliding back into Jim Crow.

Booker’s interview was not a serious defense of voting rights. It was a performance. It was overdramatic, historically irresponsible, and politically useful for Democrats who cannot win arguments without dividing Americans by race.
