As if things couldn’t get more bizarre for Shedeur Sanders during the 2025 NFL Draft, the quarterback prospect fell victim to a prank caller pretending to be a representative from a team while he was streaming live on Twitch.
All eyes have been on Sanders since he fell out of the first round — then the second and third on Friday night — and it appeared that a prankster preyed upon the Colorado product’s hopes of being selected after seemingly getting hold of his number.
A clip of the moment showed his brother, Shilo talking to the camera, when all a group of family members started shouting, believing that an NFL team rep was on the phone.

Sanders had a big smile on his face as he took the phone and started talking to the person on the other end as family and friends — along with the camera — crowded around him, thinking this would be the moment he’d been waiting for.
“I’m good, been waiting on you,” Sanders said.
However, things quickly turned when the caller told Sanders that he’d “have to wait a little longer,” as Sanders’ demeanor changed, seemingly realizing something was amiss.
He could be heard asking the people around him, “what does that mean?”
“I don’t know what that was,” Sanders added. “Nobody got this number, though.”
The confusion quickly spread throughout the group in the clip.
The Twitch stream was eventually ended and a recording of it did not appear on Sanders’ streaming account.
Sanders has gone three rounds without hearing his name called in this year’s draft, but he seemed to remain positive toward the end of Friday night.

He appeared briefly in his brother, Shilo’s, Twitch stream saying, “We got time still. Whenever I get picked, we gonna turn it up.”
While Sanders had been under intense scrutiny heading into the draft and had started to see his draft stock fall, it remained a bit shocking that he remained on the draft board heading into the final day of the draft.
Five quarterbacks have been taken in the draft with Cam Ward and Jaxson Dart being taken in the first round and Tyler Shough, Jalen Milroe and Dillon Gabriel being taken on the second day of the draft.
