The 49ers and Rams have one of the NFL’s most intense, bitter rivalries. And this is because both teams have battled with each other not just in the NFC West, but atop the NFC, for most of the past decade.
Because there is so often bad blood boiling between these two franchises, any time that there’s a wholesome and heartwarming moment, it’s sure to draw attention — especially when this moment involved a key figure in either organization.
And this is exactly what happened over the weekend, when Rams coach Sean McVay was on vacation in Saint-Tropez, France.
Instagram user Blake McCall (@blakecmccall), who is a clear 49ers fan, made an Instagram post on June 21 that showed McVay being presented with a bottle of champagne while on vacation. The champagne was brought by bottle-service girls who were holding a sign that showed a 49ers logo.

McCall’s post was captioned, “Bought a bottle of champagne for @rams Head Coach @seanmcvayofficial to show my love for @49ers 😂”.
Props to McVay, he was all smiles and laughing during the entire video before ultimately getting up to shake McCall’s hand. Then again, he should be all smiles, given that he was gifted a free bottle of champagne.
McVay surely could have the nicest bottle of champagne the Saint-Tropez restaurant had to offer, given that he signed a multiyear contract extension earlier in 2026 that’s presumably worth more than the estimated $15 million he was making per year before that.
McVay’s Rams and the 49ers will go back to being bitter rivals once the 2026-27 NFL season begins. But in the meantime, they can break bread together. Or pop champagne.
