USC college basketball commit Alijah Arenas is recovering and has been released from the hospital, his family announced on Wednesday.

Arenas, who is the son of NBA great Gilbert Arenas, got in a nasty car accident in his Tesla Cybertruck and was put into a medically induced coma.

Arenas is recovering and has been released from care, but he still has a long way to go before he can say he is fully healed from a devastating crash.

“While his journey to full recovery is just beginning, his spirit remains strong, and he is surrounded by love and support,” the family said Wednesday.

“The Govan and Arenas family are preparing for the road ahead with faith and determination, committed to nurturing Alijah back to 100%. He remains blessed, resilient, and in high spirits.”

It is unclear when and if Arenas will be able to return to basketball as he finishes out his junior year of high school.

Arenas was treated for high levels of carbon dioxide ingestion stemming from the flame-filled crash that nearly took his life.

Thankfully, Arenas suffered “no major injuries” from the accident in which he crashed into a fire hydrant and the vehicle caught fire.

Several bystanders saved the day as they helped pull Arenas out of the vehicle before his injuries worsened.

Arenas averaged 29.3 points per game as a junior to go along with 3.3 assists and six rebounds per game for Chatsworth High School in California.
