A 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman have died after she ran a stop sign and plowed her Chevy into his Jeep.
Bobby Criado died Saturday after suffering major injuries in the smash, which happened around 10 p.m. Tuesday at an intersection in Madera County.
California Highway Patrol said Esmeralda Marcela Gutierrez was driving her Chevy Malibu and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Criado had been airlifted to a hospital with major brain trauma.
His family later said doctors told them his injuries were not expected to be survivable.
A 21-year-old woman riding in the Chevy suffered minor injuries.
The Jeep that Criado was in saw the 25-year-old driver and a 10-year-old passenger sustain minor to moderate injuries.

A vigil was held Thursday for Gutierrez and Criado while he remained in critical condition.
Officials publicly identified Gutierrez on Friday.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and authorities have not said whether alcohol or drugs played a role.
The tragedy prompted an outpouring of condolences online, with one Instagram user writing, “They just opened that intersection. That’s horrible. Prayers.”
