The Jordanian asylum seeker suspected of killing American citizen Jamey Carney in Ireland has been arrested in Jordan following an international manhunt, according to multiple reports.
The Gateway Pundit previously reported that Ahmad Al-Saqar allegedly fled Ireland before Carney’s body was discovered by her teenage daughter at their home in Killarney, County Kerry, last week.
Irish authorities identified Al-Saqar as the primary suspect after he reportedly left the country, traveling through Turkey before ultimately being located in Jordan.
Carney, an American citizen originally from New York, had been living in Ireland for several years. Reports indicate that she and Al-Saqar had participated in an Islamic marriage ceremony before her death.
According to her Facebook and TikTok pages, as well as local reports, Carney was known locally as a community member involved in Pro-Palestine activities.
Carney also crudely bashes ICE in one of her video clips.
According to the Irish Independent, Al-Saqar had told acquaintances that he hoped to relocate to the United States and that Carney had been helping him pursue U.S. residency.
The migrant who fled Ireland after the brutal killing of an American woman in a popular tourist town has been arrested in his native Jordan, according to Irish media.
The man, whom Irish police describe as a “person of interest,” was detained within the past 48 hours by Jordan’s Public Security Directorate after authorities learned he had returned to the country and was the focus of the Garda murder investigation, according to the Irish Mirror.
The newspaper reported Irish officials were informed of the arrest Monday.
Irish police confirmed to Fox News Digital they were aware “of the arrest of a male in Jordan by the Jordanian authorities” but did not identify the man or confirm he was the person of interest in the investigation.
Police also confirmed they “have not made any request to the Jordanian authorities for the arrest of any person at this time.”
As an American citizen victim, Carney’s case triggered an Irish police request to Interpol. That request is now being monitored by the U.S. National Central Bureau (USNCB), the American arm of Interpol staffed by the Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security. The FBI has offered assistance to Irish authorities if required.
