Trump skewers Hochul’s ban of data centers in NY: ‘Terrible decision’

President Trump skewered Gov. Kathy Hochul’s move for the first-in-the-nation ban on data centers across New York, railing about the state Dems’ “political” agenda to shut down these “cash cows.”

“New York State has made a terrible decision,” the president raged on Truth Social. “All of this Income, and other Benefits, will be going to Red States, and some Blue, where Data Centers are sought as Cash Cows, with Lower Taxes and Record Setting Jobs. They must pay for their own Water and Power, and any leftover goes back to the State and local Community.

“New York should change its Policy, IMMEDIATELY,” Trump went on. “The Radical Left Dumocrats must not be allowed to cause us to lose Data Centers, AI, and all of this incredible new Technology, to China, and other countries!”

The harsh response from the commander-in-chief comes a day after Hochul announced the pause on new permits for the data centers, claiming the centers put a strain on the energy grid.

“I don’t want New York to just be first. I want New York to be first in the right way,” she said of her new executive order.

New York City’s top Republican piled on.

“President Trump is absolutely right,” Minority Council Leader David Carr (Staten Island) said.

“Shutting down a clean nuclear power plant that supplied 25 percent of the city’s electricity, opposing cheap natural gas supply, trying to fill the energy gap with hydroelectric from Canada that costs an arm and a leg and another arm, and then placing a moratorium on data centers that bring in billions of dollars in investment and thousands of good paying jobs is not a sound energy or economic policy for New York State,” he continued.

To say that this is a tremendous missed opportunity is an understatement.”
