Another one bites the dust at ESPN.
The Worldwide Leader’s lead baseball play-by-play man, Karl Ravech, is set to be let go by the network amid a round of company layoffs, according to multiple reports.
Ravech’s departure from ESPN comes one day after the company moved on from former NFL player and lightning rod Ryan Clark on Monday.
Ravech has been with ESPN for roughly 33 years, having joined the network as a “SportsCenter” anchor in May 1993 and worked in multiple roles since.
The longtime ESPN personality was on the call Monday night for Phillies vs. Dodgers, seemingly making that his final performance for the company.
The Athletic has since reported that Ravech had not been told that he would be let go at the time of the report by Andrew Marchand and also Front Office Sports’ Ryan Glasspiegel.
It’s the same issue that ESPN faced yesterday, as Clark was set to be let go the following day; they had to tell him he was being let go during his appearance on NFL Live because they didn’t want him finding out from anyone other than them.
That was not the fate for Ravech, as it appears he found out from the internet rather than his bosses at ESPN.
The longtime ESPN employee was also on Baseball Tonight as well as a SportsCenter anchor and was the voice of Sunday Night Baseball as recently as 2025 before the company decided it was best to spend its money elsewhere, with contracts with sports leagues becoming difficult to manage
More layoffs are expected to be announced later in the day on Tuesday as ESPN continues it’s serious housecleaning.
