The NFL cliché is that no player’s job is safe after a regime change.
Sometimes a new coach — especially one with final say over the roster, such as the Giants’ John Harbaugh — wants to send a message. Other times he just doesn’t care about an inherited hefty contract or high draft status that might have been saving a player on the bubble in the past.
The truth, of course, is that some players’ jobs are inherently safe. Spoiler: Jaxson Dart isn’t going anywhere, no matter how many interceptions he throws during training camp.
Actually, a closer look at the Giants’ roster suggests there are not that many spots free to be won when they cut from 91 players to 53 before the regular season.
