Nancy Guthrie sheriff claims he’s ‘still positive’ kidnapping case will be solved after Savannah’s new plea

The Arizona sheriff leading the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping vowed on Tuesday he’s “still positive” the case will be solved – even after six months with few leads.

Nancy’s daughter, “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie issued a tearful new plea to the abductors on Monday, asking for them to “do the right thing.”

“We have so much DNA to sort through,” Chris Nanos, the Pima County Sheriff, told NBC.

“We have so much in terms of video evidence to look at. So I’m still positive that we’re going to resolve this case.”

He directly appealed to anyone with information to come forward in the hope it could help the investigation.

“We’re working this as hard as we can,” he said.

“There’s no lead too small. We, like Savannah today, we encourage you, if you know something, saw something, please let us know.”

Nanos revealed labs across the country are “talking to one another about how best to look at what they have in front of them for DNA evidence,” NBC affiliate KVOA reported.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was kidnapped from her Tucson, home on Feb. 1. On Monday, her TV anchor daughter issued a fresh appeal to her mom’s kidnappers.

“The world can be a cruel and unforgiving place, and I know that you have tried to do things the right way,” Savannah said in a video entitled “Bring her home.”

“So I am asking you, begging you, to do the right thing now.”

Savannah tearfully urged her mom’s kidnappers to “make the right choice.”

“Help us find her,” she begged. “Tell us where to look for her. It has been months since our mom was taken from us. Our family is in agony. We are in a nightmare that will not end.”

Savannah begged the kidnappers to help bring the family’s agony to “an end.”

“For all of us,” she said. “No matter where we’ve been and what we’ve done.

“I believe there is always a way home. Please make the right choice.”

It’s not known why Savannah decided to share the appeal on social media Monday – but a federal source close to the case told Fox News Savannah had spoken to investigators about the video.

Monday’s fresh plea was Savannah’s first appeal that she had made in several weeks.

Last month, she broke down in tears while begging people to come forward if they have any information that can help solve the case.

Her appeal came as reports claimed a ransom note believed to have been sent by the abductors claimed Nancy Guthrie had died.

Two notes were allegedly sent days after the matriarch vanished.

One note claimed Guthrie was “safe but scared” while demanding $4 million in Bitcoin for her return, while the second claimed she had died.

“Somebody knows something, and this is a new story today that is on your radar, but this is the life that my sister lives, that I live, that my brother lives, that our extended families live, that our children live, every day. And we are in agony,” Savannah said after the disturbing reports emerged.

“We cannot be at peace.”

No arrests have been made in connection with Guthrie’s disappearance and her family is offering $1 million reward for her return.
