After leading the New York Knicks made their first Eastern Conference finals appearance in 25 years, Tom Thibodeau is out. The Knicks will reportedly fire Thibodeau following the team putting up 51 wins in the regular season, its best performance in over a decade, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The move comes as a massive surprise considering the Knicks’ playoff run — and Thibodeau’s overall success with the franchise.

Despite the team’s fantastic regular season, the Knicks fell short in the playoffs, falling in six games to the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference finals.

In five seasons with New York, Thibodeau posted a .565 winning percentage, taking the team to the playoffs in four out of five tries.
