California city rocked by pair of strange deaths as bodies discovered high and low

Two bodies were discovered in Fresno on Friday, including one on the roof of a high school building, sparking fears as authorities investigate.

The Fresno Police Department said around 11 a.m. an employee at Fresno High School said they found what they believed to be the body of a deceased person on the roof of a building located on the north end of the campus, near Echo and Weldon.

Officers, fire personnel, and EMS responded. When fire crews went up on the roof they found the body of an adult male, the Fresno PD told The California Post.

The man was pronounced deceased on scene, with police saying their age is unclear at this time.

The death is being investigated as suspicious “due to the location of where the body was found,” PD added.

It is unclear at this time how long the body was up there. 

The discovery came just hours after authorities responded to reports of a body found in a water canal just outside the city.

“Someone working in the area of W. Shaw and N. Goldenrod Avenues, west of the town of Biola, reported finding a body in the nearby canal,” the Fresno County Sheriff’s office told The Post. 

When deputies arrived they found a deceased man in the water.  

“Deputies assigned to the Sheriff’s Dive Unit recovered the body of the man,” the department said.

The department and personnel at the coroner’s office are now working to positively identify the male.

The department said the circumstances of the man’s death are unknown. No other information has been provided. 

News of the two bodies found within hours of each other, rocked the city, leading some to speculate something sinister could be at hand.

“WTH is going on Fresno….body at high school and now body in canal,” one person wrote on social media, questioning if there was a serial killer roaming around.

“Of all places, a body on a roof at a high school? Sounds like an episode from The X-Files. Seriously, I hope it’s not a homicide–maybe an accidental death?” a second person wrote.

An investigation is underway in both cases.
