St. John’s roster is not complete, and it is in the market for a difference-maker to add to its already-strong roster, according to sources.

The new five-for-five NCAA eligibility rule that is being challenged in court by last year’s seniors has created the potential for the Johnnies to land another impactful player.

International high school recruit Gildas Gimenez was recently ruled academically ineligible, which opened up a spot on St. John’s roster, sources said.

St. John’s has expressed interest in high-scoring Auburn wing Keyshawn Hall and former Red Storm standout forward Dillon Mitchell is another option, according to sources. Mitchell was drafted in the second round (40th overall) by the Celtics, but has yet to sign a contract with Boston. He is looking for a guaranteed deal. If that doesn’t materialize, a return to school is possible.
